The Shark Lab | Oceans Aware Educational Project

Back to previous page

Project Overview

The Shark Lab (a fully accredited PAAZAB aquarium) aims to enlighten children and adults about the wonders of Africa's Sharks! Designed as an intimate portal into Southern Africa’s marine environment, guests are welcomed and given personal tours by The Shark Lab's knowledgeable and dedicated Aquarists Adam and Nico, who will lead you through the facilities tanks and research studies in a one-on-one journey of discovery. The tours are designed to provide guests of all ages with engaging and interactive hands-on learning opportunities geared towards providing a better understanding of the marine species found in the Western Cape waters.

As a duel purpose of the aquarium and research facility, guests can learn more about and observe some of the research conducted by the Oceans Research team, including the great white shark research of Ryan Johnson, host of National Geographic's Sharkville and The Secret Shark Pits.
