University and Group Lectures | Oceans Aware Educational Project
Project Overview
Oceans Aware organises a wide variety of programmes focusing on increasing the public’s understanding of sharks through education and awareness. Our programs offer both a theoretical and practical insight and may be customized to accommodate groups of all ages.
Project Includes
- Lectures highlighting shark biology and the imperative need for conservation *
- Lectures pertaining to the ground breaking white shark research conducted by the Oceans Research team in Mossel Bay *
- Shark dissections: a unique educational and visual experience illuminating the fascinating anatomy of a shark **
* Lectures are also available via Skype conferences
** The sharks utilised for educational dissections are obtained from the dead by-catch of commercial fishing vessels. We do not support fishing activities which target shark and rays species.
