Back to previous page

Project Overview

Oceans Aware, in partnership with Mossel Bay based organisations such as the Agape Children Shelter and other locals businesses, organises monthly activity days and meals for the for Mossel Bay’s street children. The purpose behind this very rewarding program are teach the children to respect themselves and their environment and most importantly to inspire and encourage them to return to school, where they will have the ability to reach their full potential. Many of Oceans Aware’s activity days occur at The Shark Lab, where the children’s desire to learn about South Africa’s marine species is encouraged through hands on educational activities, demonstrations and games.

We strive, with the assistance of gracious community sponsors to be able to provide a stable and supportive full-time shelter and place for the children to call home. This is integral to keep the children off the streets and provide them with the necessary resources get back into a school system.
